As part of a student project, I created packaging mockups for a fictional skincare brand, Future Skin Co. The project is based around the idea of speculative design, or design that addresses possible futures and how to design for these circumstances. This project responds to hypothetical future technologies and future environmental challenges in skincare. The collection includes three products: a face mask that uses nanobots to clean the user’s pores, a 1000 SPF sunscreen for leisure expeditions to the moon, and a moisturizer and cleanser that shield the user from unwanted AI facial recognition. As a graphic designer, this project allowed me to explore branding and packaging design while also expanding my mindset beyond visual design and into a new field of design I had never interacted with before. It was also an opportunity to create a more playful, tongue-in-cheek design that is less realistic and more imaginative.
