For my final project in my Intro to Video course, I chose to create a montage that explores my experience as a young adult and what it has been like maturing through my college experience. The video also references pop music videos and K-pop albums in a juxtaposition between the lived experience of being young and its media portrayal. I wrote a monologue for this video, inspired by f(x)’s 2013 “Pink Tape” Art Film, that further explores the subject of the video and was delivered by a friend. The repetition of the sunshine motif in the video serves an aesthetic purpose but also connects to the theme of youth being a blindingly overwhelming experience. I used a Sony Handycam camcorder and Adobe Premiere Pro to create this video.
