This is a collection of drawings I’ve done for various courses in school using soft pastels. “3-Piece Still Life” is an exploration of color and 3D form as a still life, done on craft paper for greater contrast between the colors of the objects and the background. “Study of a Woman” is an example of using color to represent light and shadow, as I used bright orange and deep blue to capture the shape of the woman’s face and the reflection of light. “Green Meadow I” is the first in a series of abstraction, in which I depict a meadow in different media and from different references (life vs. photo vs. memory). This work was created from life, and I used limited color and low contrast to represent the setting.
